An adaptable workforce

Organizations around the globe are feeling the pinch to adapt to changes in the workforce landscape.
I commented earlier on the need for organizations to focus more on talent management… from cradle to grave, businesses need to implement new methods to attract, engage and retain the best talent possible.
A recent IBM study entitled “Unlocking The DNA of the Adaptable Workforce” has provided some more depth to this argument. Its a very well compiled report with excellent research and I’d urge you to check it out if you are C-level and/or HR Executive. While I won’t bore you with the details of all 72 pages, the basic premise I got from this report was that an adaptable workforce is the key to sustained corporate performance.
But of course, its not as easy as it sounds. Building an adaptable workforce involves many moving parts, and many different departments, all working together in synchronicity. And to achieve this, you need leaders. Which by the way, is one of the major problems… not enough strong leaders.
Interesting was the mention of Analytics as a key component to help organizations reach their objectives. As strong believers in the value of ‘good information’ we have invested heavily in our Analytics practice and our Practice Leader in this area has helped some pretty big companies squeeze out great value from their systems.
